Google prot pārsteigt un ik pa laikam pārsteidz. Un tā kārtējo reizi ir to izdarījusi paziņojot savā oficiālajā blogā par savas operētājsistēmas Google Chromes OS izstrādi.
Jā, tieši tā, Google plāno ap savu lielisko tīmekļa pārlūku Google Chrome (kad tam jel būs Mac versija?!!) izveidot operētājsistēmu, kas iesākumā būs paredzēta pēdējā laikā popularitāti iemantojušajiem netbūkiem. Šī gada beigās tiek solīts publiskot jauno operētājsistēmu un jau 2010. gada otrajā pusē varēsim sagaidīt pašus netbukus ar jauno OS.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.
Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.
Google Chrome OS will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips and we are working with multiple OEMs to bring a number of netbooks to market next year. The software architecture is simple — Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel. For application developers, the web is the platform. All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite web technologies. And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform.

Es atceros to vakaru, kad pats pirmo reizi iemēģināju Google Chrome. Atceros kā šis pārlūks man burtiskā nozīmē atstāja vaļā muti, tik ātrs un vienkāršs lietošanā tas ir. Kā jau Google bija plānojuši – ideāls pārlūks aktīviem Interneta cilvēkiem, kam svarīgi ātri un bez liekiem jautājumiem tikt pie saviem tīmekļa servisiem. Un tagad Google sper nākamo soli – izveidojot OS priekš netbukiem, kurus savu mazo izmēru un ērtības dēļ lieto tie paši aktīvie Interneta cilvēki. Ja pieņemam, ka vidusmēra netbuks nav īsti ērti pielietojams citu darbību veikšanai kā tikai tīmekļa pārlūkošanai un tamlīdzīgām darbībām, tad es nevaru iedomāties neko labāku kā vienkāršu un ātru uz tehnoloģiski labi nostrādātu pārlūku bāzētu OS priekš tiem.
Nenoliedzami šis solis tiek sperts, lai cīnītos par tirgus daļu ar savu tiešāko konkurentu Microsoft, kas patlaban tur pārliecinošu vadību tā kā 96% visu netbuku darbojas uz Windows operētājsistēmām. Tie atlikušie 4%, cik noprotu, ir kaut kādu Linux parodijas.
Runājot par Google. Vakar aizrautīgi škurināju eBay portālu un meklēju cik tad īsti maksā slavenie ar Google Android spēcinātie telefoni un secinājumi ir tādi, ka cenas nav kosmiskas un pavisam vienkārši ir nopirkt šādu aparātu un tas mani savā ziņā interesē vairāk par Apple iPhone, kas “ir visiem”. Tomēr vēlos uzprasīt saviem lasītājiem vai kāds dzīvē ir redzējis/lietojis pirmo vai otro Google telefonu un kādas ir atsauksmes.
